Walton is situated on the site of Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site.  Thus there are many historical places of interest to visit nearby e.g. Forts, Turrets, Mile Castles and Museums.

Walton has a large village green which is used regularly by the local community, particularly for cricket and football. There is also a park with children's play area just off the green, with swings, a slide and a roundabout.

Walton also has a country Public House and Post Office. All within 10 minutes walk from Walton High Rigg Farm.
