Walton High Rigg Farm Area Attractions

 
  • Golf, fishing, rowing, sailing, wind surfing and riding can be enjoyed locally.
  • Gretna Green is 14 miles away, and for visitors interested in history, the Roman fort of Birdoswald is 5 miles away and the Border City of Carlisle, 10 miles.
  • We are less than a mile from the Border Reiver Route. It takes 1 hour to go to the Lake District.

The town is a very attractive historical market town with a wide range of attractions. The Moot hall is situated in the Market Place (see picture to right).. It was erected in 1817 by the Earl of Carlisle to replace an older structure of which the age was not known.

Brampton also has two historical churches. The Old Church dating back to the 17th Century and St Martins which dates from 1877. 

This town also has a range of pubs, places to eat, shops, a Post Office, Two Banks (with cash points) and a Doctors Surgery.

Talkin Tarn - 4 miles

Where rowing, fishing, sailing and windsurfing can be done. There is an easy walk around the tarn and a woodland trail.

Lanercost Priory - 3.5 Miles

The Knave is Lanercost Church with the same priest as a normal church. All around the Priory you can find well preserved Augustan Ruins.

The entrance is a Roman Arch.
