| Brampton - 3.5 miles The town is a very attractive historical market town with a wide range of attractions. The Moot hall is situated in the Market Place (see picture to right).. It was erected in 1817 by the Earl of Carlisle to replace an older structure of which the age was not known. Brampton also has two historical churches. The Old Church dating back to the 17th Century and St Martins which dates from 1877. This town also has a range of pubs, places to eat, shops, a Post Office, Two Banks (with cash points) and a Doctors Surgery. |

The Knave is Lanercost Church with the same priest as a normal church. All around the Priory you can find well preserved Augustan Ruins. The entrance is a Roman Arch. |
